In Key Stage Two our senior pupils prepare for Key Stage Two Standard Assessment tests as well as entry into the senior school of their parent’s choice.
The senior day starts at 8.30 am with lessons through until 3.30 pm. Sports coaching takes place for an hour for four days of the week. This followed by a snack and a supervised prep period which ends at 5.30 pm. Although children can be collected at 4.45 pm and complete their prep at home.
The school offers a full and exciting curriculum at Key Stage II in which the core subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science are supported by I.C.T., History, Geography, Music, French, Design and Technology Art, R.E. and P.E.
All subjects are taught by specialist members of staff as individual areas of the curriculum. Science is taught in a well-equipped laboratory and I.C.T. in our computer suite which is currently being refurbished and upgraded.
Our older children are given the opportunity to develop advanced I.T. skills and undertake individual projects across the curriculum.
Our older pupils are appointed to various positions of authority in their final year and are expected to be strong role models for the younger children. These posts include Head Boy/ Girl, Set Leaders, and monitors in charge of Games, Music and the Library.
At the end of Year Six the majority of our pupils move on to local independent and state senior schools. St Petroc’s has achieved a large number of scholarships over the years. ( See Reports and Results )
