SAFEGUARDING

Introduction

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm. At St Petroc’s Nursery we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The safety and well-being of all our children at St Petroc’s Nursery is our highest priority.

Our business is to know everyone as an individual and to provide a secure and caring environment, so that every pupil can learn, and undertake educational activities in safety.

You can view our full Safeguarding Policy on our Policies page.

Safeguarding is defined in ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children as:

  • Protecting children from abuse and maltreatment

  • Preventing harm to children’s health or development

  • Ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care

  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.
