In this blog, we want to talk about helping your child settle into a new nursery. Starting somewhere new is a big change not just for children, but for parents too. The first few weeks can bring a lot of new faces, experiences, and it can take a little while for children to settle. But they always do, in their own time.

Talking about the new nursery early can really help. Talking about what their day might look like, the friends they might make or the fun games they’ll play.

For many children, visiting their new setting before their first day makes a big difference. Exploring the playroom, meeting other children and staff can make everything feel familiar and safe.

Saying goodbye can be the hardest part. Your child will pick up on your emotions, so if you’re calm and happy, it will help your child feel safe and reassured. Every child has their own way of settling in.

What matters most is that they feel secure, understood and cared for. That’s when they begin to explore and enjoy their time.
